Can I Do P90X at the Gym?
Can I do P90X at the gym? Many people ask this question and the I guess the answer is, it depends on the gym. When doing P90X there are some things you will need that not all gyms have. The main thing being access to a TV and a DVD player where you can put in your work out. There are other things you can do like bring your laptop and play you work out DVD on it and I think this would be your best option. This will give you more flexibility to do you work outs almost anywhere. As long as your gym has dumbbells and a pull up bar and a little space for you to move around then you will be able to do your P90X work outs at the gym.
You probably don’t even need to put in the DVD for a work outs like P90X Chest and Back or P90X Back and Biceps but I would not suggest doing that all the time. You can look at the sheets and know what you have to do but I don;t think you get the full effect. Personally I think there is a psychological factor that helps me get through the P90X work outs when I have the DVD in. I feel like I am working out in a group and I don’t take longer breaks like I would if the DVD wasn’t in. P90X was the first work out DVD I have ever done but it definitely works for me. I wasn’t sure how I was going to like it before I ordered it but I definitely know now. I love P90X and it is a work out that will be a part of me for the rest of my life. P90X has put me in the best shape of my life and I will continue to do it as long as I am able to move. 🙂
So if you are still wondering if you can do P90X at the gym, I guess you could say you could do P90X almost anywhere. If you have a laptop then you are ready to go. Grab a buddy, head to the gym and “Bring It”. You could even grab some resistance bands and go to the beach or the park if you really wanted too. (Be careful with your laptop at the beach.) The bottom line is P90X is a flexible program. Do P90X at the gym, the beach, the park, while on vacation, at home or where ever you choose. Just get started!
I do my Plyometrics workout at the gym since I live on the 2nd floor and don’t want to bother my neighbors with the stomping. I bring my laptop and do the workout in the group exercise room when they are not having classes. It works out great.
@Marsha That’s awesome, way to improvise!!! Does anyone ever ask you “what the heck are you doing?” Have you ever thought about turning your P90X fitness into a part time business? This trend of obesity isn’t going to end by itself and I sure could use a few more partners to help end it. Shoot me over an email if this sounds interesting to you.
No, no one has asked but I’m sure they’re wondering. 🙂
Can I do a Muay Thai workout in place of plyo?
I need to days of Martial Arts type workouts to main skill while on P90X for 3 months.
Kenpo X keeps my basics in check.
@Josh Sure…. I’m sure that would be fine. I think the Muay Thai will most like be more intense than the Plyo workout. Be sure to let us know how it is going!
I am starting P90X at the gym.
Sub some body weight exercises with weights.
For warm-up I jog on the treadmill for 10 minutes.
The cardio and yoga I do at home.
I’ve actually been able to decrease the strength workouts to 40 minutes
Do you think the results will equal that of following the DVDS at home?
Thanks for your response.
@John Yes, you will get the results at the gym if you are doing the exercises. Did you know you can take your workouts with you to the gym and do them from your phone? Just grab a BOD subscription and you will get every Beachbody workout including P90X, P90X2 and P90X3. You can get it here https://www.decidetostayfit.com/beachbody-on-demand and if you are looking to mix it up I have a hybrid group starting soon that uses a lot of different Beachbody workouts for 8 weeks and I promise it will be challenging. 🙂 Just let me know.
